Studies on Hemo-and Sperm-agglutinin Activities of Phaseolus vulgaris L.

Abstract
|
|
|
Several tests have been performed -to understand serological characteristics of ~saliae extract of Phaseolus vulgaris L. native to Korea. -Studies on its hemagglutination activities to Duman and animal red blood cell, agglutination activity to human sperm, agglutination ´titer, absorption test, agglutination inhibition tests by saliva and sugars, heat _stability test, and ´agglutination -activities of each fraction separated by electrophoresis were performed.
The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1) Sperm agglutinin was identified in Phaseolus vulgaris L. native to Korea.
2) Sperm agglutinin in Phaseolus vulgarsis L. was pan-agglutinin to human sperm -:and not rtlathd to blood group specificity.
3) Sperm from non-secretor was not agglutinated by pan-sperm-agglutinin in Phaseolus vulgaris L.
4) Agglutination titer of sperm Agglutinin in Phaseolus vulgaris L. was 512 tails showing higher titer than that of red blood cell.
5) Pan--sperm-agglutinin in Phaseolus vulgaris L. revealed identical serologic characteristics with Van-hemagglutinin.
